August in Charlotte means peak summer energy — the Panthers are back in preseason mode, the Knights are in the thick of their summer homestand, and the Whitewater Center's River Jam series is in full swing. This week's lineup leans heavily into live music and sports: Evanescence brings dramatic rock to the amphitheater on Tuesday, the Knights host the Durham Bulls in a four-game series that includes Friday night fireworks, and Tape B & Levity bring bass-heavy EDM to the amphitheater on Friday. Monday opens with the Panthers' preseason home opener at Bank of America Stadium, and the weekend delivers farmers markets at their peak-season best — NC peaches, heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, and okra are all at their August finest. It's a great week to be out and about in the Queen City.

The Carolina Panthers kick off their 2026 preseason at home in Bank of America Stadium. Preseason games are a great way to experience the stadium atmosphere at a lower ticket price while seeing the roster compete for starting spots. Evanescence — 2026 World Tour
Truliant Amphitheater — 707 Pavilion Blvd, University City
Amy Lee and Evanescence bring their 2026 World Tour to Charlotte for a night of dramatic, sweeping rock. Expect "Bring Me to Life," "My Immortal," "Going Under," and tracks from their latest album. Evanescence's live shows are known for their emotional intensity and cinematic production — one of the most visually stunning rock concerts you'll see this summer. Charlotte Knights vs. Durham Bulls

The Charlotte Knights open a midweek series against the Durham Bulls — one of minor league baseball's most storied rivalries. Truist Field is one of the best ballparks in the minors, with great sightlines, craft beer, and affordable family fun. Tuesday nights often feature special promotions. Soul of Charlotte
Stage Door Theater — 345 N College St, Uptown
This original production celebrates the people, neighborhoods, and spirit that make Charlotte unique. Running through August 16 at Stage Door Theater, it's a fitting cultural moment while Charlotte continues to grow and evolve. A love letter to the Queen City in theatrical form.
River Jam: Thursday Night
U.S. National Whitewater Center — 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy
River Jam kicks off the weekend early with a Thursday night concert at the Whitewater Center. Free live music, food trucks, craft beer, and the option to raft, kayak, or zip line before the show. One of Charlotte's best summer traditions. Free admission; parking $6.

Tape B & Levity bring bass music to the amphitheater on Friday night, Saturday delivers farmers markets, River Jam, Knights baseball, and Carowinds, and Sunday wraps the weekend with more park and museum options.

Truliant Amphitheater — 707 Pavilion Blvd, University City
Electronic music producers Tape B and Levity bring their Summer Program tour to Truliant Amphitheater for a night of bass-heavy beats and high-energy production. If you're into electronic dance music, this is one of the best outdoor shows of the summer. Lawn tickets available.
Charlotte Knights vs. Durham Bulls
Truist Field — 324 S Mint St, Uptown
Friday night baseball at Truist Field with the Knights hosting the Bulls. Fireworks are typically part of Friday home games — one of the most popular nights of the week at the ballpark. Pair it with a walk through Uptown for the perfect summer Friday.
River Jam: Friday Night Concert
U.S. National Whitewater Center — 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy
Friday night River Jam at the Whitewater Center — free live music on the outdoor stage with the river and trails as your backdrop. This is one of Charlotte's signature summer experiences. Bring a blanket, grab food from the on-site options, and enjoy. Free admission; parking $6.

Peak-season farmers markets across the metro: Charlotte Regional Farmers Market (8 AM–5 PM, 1801 Yorkmont Rd), Kings Drive Farmers Market (7 AM–3 PM, 938 S Kings Dr), South End Farmers Market at Atherton (8 AM–1 PM, 2000 South Blvd), Davidson Farmers Market (9 AM–12 PM, 120 S Main St). NC peaches, heirloom tomatoes, sweet corn, okra, butterbeans, and blackberries are at their August peak.
River Jam: Saturday Night Concert

Saturday night River Jam features another free live concert at the Whitewater Center. The weekend evening shows are the most popular of the week — arrive early to grab a good spot. Free admission; parking $6.
Charlotte Knights — Saturday Evening Game

The Knights host Saturday evening baseball with a 6:05 PM first pitch — earlier than weeknight games, making it great for families. Post-game fireworks expected. Minor league baseball at its best: affordable tickets, craft beer, and an intimate atmosphere.
Carowinds Summer Season

Carowinds continues its full summer season with roller coasters, the Boomerang Bay water park, and live entertainment. One of the best family day-trips in the metro, just 20 minutes south of Uptown at the NC/SC state line. Check carowinds.com for current hours and ticket prices.
Summer Exhibitions at the Mint Museum
Mint Museum Randolph — 2730 Randolph Rd, Charlotte
The Mint Museum's summer exhibitions continue with rotating art and design shows across both the Randolph and Uptown locations. A great way to spend a hot August afternoon in an air-conditioned cultural space. Check mintmuseum.org for current exhibitions and admission details.

Amy Lee's voice is one of the most distinctive in rock, and Evanescence's live show is genuinely cinematic. The amphitheater on a summer evening is the perfect setting — lawn tickets make this an affordable weeknight outing. "Bring Me to Life" and "My Immortal" live will give you chills.
River Jam at the Whitewater Center (Friday & Saturday)
Free live music at the Whitewater Center is one of Charlotte's best summer traditions. Go early, hit the trails or the water, then settle in for a great night of music under the stars. The Saturday night show is the best of the week.
Farmers Markets on Saturday Morning
August is peak season for NC peaches, heirloom tomatoes, and sweet corn. Start your Saturday at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market or Kings Drive Farmers Market and load up on the best produce of the year. Nothing says summer in Charlotte like a Saturday morning at the market.
