It's Independence Day week in Charlotte, and the Queen City is celebrating in style. The marquee event is Saturday's Stars & Stripes Spectacular at Truist Field — Charlotte Symphony performing a patriotic concert followed by the legendary WBT SkyShow fireworks over the Uptown skyline. This year carries extra significance as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday. The Whitewater Center is running a two-day Independence Day celebration with outdoor adventures and evening fireworks over the Catawba River. Closer to home, Matthews hosts its beloved downtown celebration on Friday night, Waxhaw rolls out its annual Fourth of July Parade, and Kannapolis offers one of the most affordable fireworks outings in the metro. The week also brings Joji to Spectrum Center, the Pop 2000 Tour to the Carolina Theatre, two nights of comedy at the Comedy Zone, and jazz at Middle C. And with peak NC peach and watermelon season in full swing, farmers markets across the city are overflowing with summer produce.

Cook Out Summer Shootout — Week 4
Charlotte Motor Speedway — 5555 Concord Pkwy N, Concord
The Cook Out Summer Shootout returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway's quarter-mile inside road course for week four of this free summer series. Go-kart racing, legends cars, and bandoleros tear it up under the lights with the iconic speedway as the backdrop. $15 for adults, free for kids 12 and under.
World Cup Watch Party at UNC Charlotte
UNC Charlotte — 9201 University City Blvd
Catch FIFA World Cup 2026 action on the big screen at UNC Charlotte's campus. The university is hosting public watch parties throughout the tournament with food and a lively student-and-community crowd. Free and open to the public.
Sydney Castillo — Comedy
The Comedy Zone — 900 Seaboard St, NoDa
Rising comedian Sydney Castillo brings her sharp, high-energy stand-up to the Comedy Zone. Known for her relatable humor and social media following, Castillo is one of the fastest-growing names on the national comedy circuit. Tickets from $44.
Jimi Janis & Sly — Live Jazz

Pop 2000 Tour
The Carolina Theatre — 230 N Tryon St, Uptown
A nostalgia-packed evening featuring Chris Kirkpatrick of *NSYNC, O-Town, BBMak, Ryan Cabrera, and LFO. The Pop 2000 Tour brings back the hits of the early 2000s for one epic night at the beautifully restored Carolina Theatre. Tickets start around $40.
Desi Banks — Live Comedy
The Comedy Zone — 900 Seaboard St, NoDa
Atlanta comedian and content creator Desi Banks brings his hilarious storytelling and character work to the Comedy Zone for two shows. Known for his viral skits and sold-out national tours, Banks is one of the hottest names in Southern comedy right now.

The Music Yard at SouthBound — 2433 South Blvd, South End
Electronic music artist Eric Luttrell kicks off Independence Day weekend at The Music Yard with a sunset set. This outdoor venue behind SouthBound Brewing has become one of Charlotte's go-to spots for live music under the stars. Tickets from $30.
Town of Matthews Independence Day Celebration
Downtown Matthews — 100 E John St, Matthews
Matthews kicks off Independence Day early with its downtown celebration featuring food vendors, live entertainment, and a fireworks show at 9:30 PM. This is one of the most popular family-friendly July 4th events in the metro — arrive early for a good spot on the lawn. Free.
4th of July at the Whitewater Center
U.S. National Whitewater Center — 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy
The Whitewater Center's Independence Day celebration kicks off Friday evening with live music, food vendors, outdoor activities, and fireworks over the Catawba River. Free admission, $13 parking. This is the unofficial start of Charlotte's July 4th weekend.

Saturday, July 4 is the main event: the Stars & Stripes Spectacular at Truist Field, a full day at the Whitewater Center, the Waxhaw parade, fireworks in Kannapolis and Midland, and farmers markets in the morning before the holiday festivities begin.

Charlotte's marquee Independence Day celebration — and a particularly special one this year as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday. 4th of July at the Whitewater Center — Day Two

The Whitewater Center's July 4th celebration continues all day Saturday with whitewater rafting, zip lines, mountain biking, live music, food vendors, and another round of evening fireworks over the river. Spend the whole day outdoors. Free admission, $13 parking.
Waxhaw Independence Day Parade
Downtown Waxhaw — Main Street, Waxhaw
The charming town of Waxhaw south of Charlotte hosts its annual Independence Day parade through the historic downtown. A beloved small-town tradition with floats, fire trucks, local businesses, and lots of patriotic spirit. Free and family-friendly.
Independence Day at the Museum of the Waxhaws
Museum of the Waxhaws — 8215 Waxhaw Hwy, Waxhaw
Step back in time with an 18th-century military encampment, historical demonstrations, and educational exhibits at this Waxhaw museum. A unique, low-key way to celebrate the holiday with a focus on American history. Free admission. About 31 miles south of Uptown Charlotte.
July 4th Extravaganza — Kannapolis
Atrium Health Ballpark — 2888 Moose Caboose Way, Kannapolis
The Kannapolis Intimidators host their annual July 4th Extravaganza with minor league baseball, a live concert by Garrett Huffman, and one of the biggest fireworks displays in the Piedmont. Tickets from $4.50–$18.55 — one of the most affordable July 4th outings in the metro.
Town of Midland Independence Day Celebration
Rob Wallace Park — Midland, NC
The small town of Midland east of Charlotte hosts a community Independence Day celebration at Rob Wallace Park with family activities, food, and fireworks at 9:30 PM. A great option if you want a quieter, more small-town Fourth of July experience.
Saturday Farmers Markets
Multiple locations across Charlotte
Independence Day falls on a Saturday this year, so some markets will be closed or running abbreviated hours. Check ahead — the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market (8 AM–5 PM, 1801 Yorkmont Rd) typically stays open. Peak-season NC peaches, watermelons, tomatoes, and blueberries are in full swing. For markets that are open, go early before the holiday festivities begin.
