The Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade, Charlotte's 80th annual edition, marches down Tryon Street in Uptown on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, stepping off at 5:30 PM. It is the city's official start of the holiday season: giant character balloons, marching bands, floats, and Santa himself, all free to watch. Here is the route, the timing, and how to grab the best viewing spot.

What makes this festival special?
For eight decades, Charlotte has kicked off the holiday countdown the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The parade runs no matter the weather, which tells you how much this town loves it. Arrive hungry for the spirit and early for a spot on the curb.
Giant Balloons
Massive character balloons float down Tryon, the skyline's skyline for one night.
Marching Bands
School bands from across the region fill the avenue with the soundtrack of the holidays.
Floats & Characters
Community floats, performance groups, and costumed characters roll through between the bands.
Santa's Arrival
The parade closes with Santa, officially declaring the holiday season open in the Queen City.
How much does it cost?
Watching from the curb is free, as it should be. The official parade site sells reserved grandstand-style seating with a cleaner sight line if you prefer not to stake out a spot hours ahead. The parade airs live on WCCB at 6 PM for anyone who would rather watch from the couch.

Line Tryon from the 9th Street area south toward Brooklyn Village Avenue; the whole route is good, but the early blocks thin out first.
Dress like it is 15 degrees colder than the forecast; parade night on Tryon is always colder than you expect.
Park once and walk, or use the LYNX Blue Line, because Uptown closes down in the best way.
